As I sit here thinking about how sporadic I’ve been with this blog, I am reminded that perseverance and timing are important. My friends tell me that it’s God’s timing that matters. It takes those vegetables time to be wonderful fruit; it takes time for us all to be what we were created to be. In February, I will be a grandma to my oldest son and daughter-in-law, Peden and Savannah’s, baby. It certainly takes time and perseverance to wait on a child to be born. In the meantime, we eat right, exercise and prepare for all the things we think our baby will need. We pray that that little one will be healthy and patiently wait for the special day.
Our work takes timing, perseverence and patience as well. I am the world’s worst at wanting my work to develop overnight, and to have a strong base of customers immediately. Recently, I participated in a workshop at Odyssey Center for the Arts in Asheveille, NC, with Suze Lindsay instructing. Her daily readings inspired me with comments about the journey and personal style taking a lifetime to establish. Although a little daunting, those words made me stop and realize that my work isn’t about the sales or about how visible I can be online. But more about when it’s all done, have I used my skills and gifts over time to reveal me in my work? Have I worked for the life journey, not the destination?
